There are currently 26 MOS certifications across 3 levels: fundamentals, associate and expert. An MOS certification is not free, and typically costs $100USD for each exam in that certification (Some MOS certifications require passing up to 5 exams).
Some MOS certifications expire after 3 years, and some of them never expire, so the duration of how long will yours be relevant depends on the certification itself, and whether the concerned office product / program will still be supported or not.
